Dates
Typically LGM has being held in the spring of the northern hemisphere which is March to end of May. To "transpose" this to the southern hemisphere we would be looking at September to end of November which might not be the ideal time with end of year festivities just around the corner. This might also be a challenge for some universities to be as liberal with space and venue as end of year exams will be in full swing.
The Organising committee would need to get together and discuss this further.
LCA Dovetail
It has being mentioned to run this off the back of linux.conf.au.. However, unless we ran it as a mini-conf there really isn't enough time to pull together a full conference in 6 weeks. The other challenge is that most of the people interested in organising the conference are in Brisbane. This would be quite a logistical challenge meet the obove statments w/o some heavy lose in professionalism of the conference.
The mini-conf idea would be suitable if the general consensous is to dove tail it into LCA. A vote of sort might need to be held to see if this has merit.
Budget
Some guidelines from previous conferences would be useful for the Brisbane team to view and extend for the next conference.
extend this.
Where
Since Brisbane has a number of University attached school or Arts Colleges, one might approach them to see if they would like to provide a venue for the event. This is likely to draw publicity for both the conference and Colleges and hence something in it for everyone.
Off the top of my head the list below is a couple that we could approach...
Giffith University Queensland College of Art.
This venue would be ideal as the new campus at Southbank ( South side of the Brisbane River) is in close proximity to the city and generally everything. At some point over the next 3-4 days I'll go and wander around the campus to inspect the suitability and report back to the organising committee

Some estimitation on numbers would be good as to how many we need to seat for keynotes and speaches.

Sponsorship
The type of sponsor we like attract.. Would we be interested in approaching the likes of Adobe, Linotype and other profitable companies that don't have a presence in the open graphics market. I would think this might be interesting as a way of the OAC (open Artistic Community) to invite them to the table for a closer relationship.
Gold
Usually 2 Major sponsors
Silver
