Streszczenie: Wolne Podręczniki to projekt, nad którym intensywnie pracujemy od roku, i właśnie kończymy prace nad pierwszym podręcznikiem do matematyki. Zapraszamy na sesję burzy mózgów, podczas której chcemy podzielić się swoimi doświadczeniami i zebrać opinie oraz pomysły na temat opracowania graficznego, składu i dystrybucji wolnych podręczników od najlepszych specjalistów na świecie. Was.

(EN) Do Artists Dream of Electric Textbooks? *
We are working on polish Free Textbooks project, and after a year of intensive development we have first textbook almost ready. We are inviting you to a brainstorming session, during which we want to share our experience and gather valuable insight of the best specialists in the world. You.
Brainstorming session will be held in English. After the session we invite all artists and developers willing to help us in a more regular way for a coffee.
We want our textbooks available as an on-line, off-line and printed material. We want them to be readable, editable and visually stunning. We want to use open standard formats all the way. We have to use extensively mathematic, musical, chemical, physical and all other usually problematic notations. We want to use as much freely licensed content (including cliparts, photos etc.) as possible. Our textbooks must conform to certain rules in order to get Ministry of Education approval, ie. we cannot distribute different versions of textbook for different media. We work in a collaborative, bottom-up environment currently using MediaWiki platform.
Our first textbook is a free mathematics textbook, so we have to use vector graphics, photos and typeset texts, then we're going to combine them all together to create each spread of the textbook. We think of using Inkscape+GIMP+Scribus combo, but maybe other tools will come handy? How to effectively import MediaWiki and LaTeX formatted content to desktop publishing programs? There are several things which are still hard for us: how to simply write and edit mathematical formulas and how to simply prepare textbook for publishing. How we can handle hypertext and other web-only features?
