- Contributor. Anyone who thinks he has a great idea to tell us.
- Spec release manager. The one who looks at all of the contributions, requests contributors for discussions, elaborations; the one who marks a spec as "Release No.0.X.X" in the wiki
Contributing
If you have just added some stuff or removed something, PLEASE fill the summary field. Summary fields will be used to create a summary of changes from version to version.
If you want to just add a comment, please use Discussion page and don't forget about subscribing, please.
If you don't plan to edit all of the text in the spec, consider editing the spec section by section, using "Edit" hyperlinks to the right of each section.
Releasing the spec
Releasing another version is needed when either one of the changes is critical, e.g. a path to search in for some files has changed, or amount of changes is too large, e.g. 3-4 per section.
On top of the page you can see either "Current version: 0.0.5" or "Current version: 0.0.5 + some changes". This helps people know whether they are looking at a polished version of the spec or at the Work In Progress.
Marking the spec as another release requires another revision, for which summary field should be filled as "Release vX.X.X". The same revision should contains list of all changes between this new version and the previous one. Summary fields text should be used for that.
When these changes are done, release manager should go to the main page and change:
- Version of the current "stable" spec
- The link to this particular version of the spec.
E.g.
[http://create.freedesktop.org/wiki/index.php?title=Shared_resources&oldid=10 Shared resources v.0.0.5]. Current in-the-works version is [http://create.freedesktop.org/wiki/index.php/Shared_resources here]
refers first to the current stable version and provides a path to it, and then it refers to the current WIP version. Absolute link to some definite version of the spec can be found in History of the spec.
